What should I bring for berry picking?

You will want to bring an ample supply of water to drink as it is often quite warm in late June through early August. You may also want to bring a stool or bucket to sit on.  Our plants are still maturing and you will find that you are bending over a lot. You may bring buckets or boxes to pick in.  Beacon Woods Farm & Flowers will also have some available or you can pick into pint size containers which we will provide.

What should I bring for flower cutting?

For flower cutting you will want to bring an ample supply of drinking water. A bucket or buckets to place your freshly cut flowers into will be helpful. Bring your own snips or cutters. We will provide water for the flowers.

What should I wear?

A hat, sunscreen, sneakers, and “farm clothing” will be appropriate.  Some folks like to wear gloves when picking flowers. You may get dirty or muddy depending on the weather and how much rain we’ve had.  Insect repellant might be a good idea too although we don’t have many mosquitoes.

How much does it cost?

Blueberries: $3.00 per pound or $3.00 per pint
Blackberries: $5.00 per pint
Flowers: Flowers range from $0.50 to $3.00 per stem depending on variety. Minimum purchase for flowers is $20.

Can I bring anybody with me?

You may bring one adult picker of your choice for blueberry picking.  Beacon Woods Farm & Flowers is a “working” farm. Blueberry pickers and guests must be 18 years of age or older. All must agree to the liability disclaimer agreement.

Are there any thorns, poisonous plants, bugs, snakes, animals, or other creatures on the farm?

Yes, to all.

Where do I park?

You will park on the grass next to the blueberry field or blackberry field. Look for signs.  Someone will help direct you when you arrive.

Are there restroom facilities?

There are no restroom facilities.  We do have an outhouse approximately seven hundred feet away which you may use if necessary.

Can I purchase any other products while I’m there?

Yes, we hope you will!  Available items will be at the check out.

How long does the season last?

The blueberry season is approximately 3-4 weeks depending on the season. Blueberries are usually available from late June through early August. Blackberries are ready from mid July until late August. And flower picking is from the mid-April until first frost. And of course, this schedule is all weather and growing dependent.

Is the invitation available for more than one day of picking?

The Invitation Only U Pick allows pickers to pick for one day.  When the list is completed and if there are more berries or flowers, the invitation cycle will begin again.

What forms of payment do you take?

Cash or check is preferred. Debit or credit cards are acceptable with a 3% processing fee.

Can I bring a pet or service animal?

Please keep your pets at home. Certified service animals are welcomed.

Can I come early?

Please do not come before the start time. Farmer Chris needs to get many things set up and ready for you.

What else should I know?

Beacon Woods Farm is a smoke-free, alcohol-free, sound-free (music, podcasts, talk radio and the like) environment. You are welcomed to bring your ear buds or ear phones to personally listen to music or other electronic communications if you so desire.
